Downtown Atlanta has officially entered fall, which means cooler temperatures and Biketober The Atlanta Bike Challenge is back. Bicycletober aims to encourage metro Atlantans to enjoy the benefits and joys of biking by offering a fun competition.

 

We've rounded up the top five ways you can enjoy Downtown on two wheels during Biketober to give you some inspiration.

 

If you're looking for a clean commute, now is a perfect time to try riding a bike. Some offices have started reopening, but traffic is still at reduced levels. Atlanta Bicycle Coalition offers free virtual classes on city cycling.

 

The city's more than 1000 murals make Atlanta a hotspot for street art. In Downtown, there are 80 murals, including the famous alligator on South Downtown Street and the iconic John Lewis mural on Auburn Ave. To make it easy for you, we've created a self-guided bike tour.

 

Almost all Downtown attractions are back up and running with new security protocols. All of the Georgia Aquariums, Coca-Cola World, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights are open near bike parking. Furthermore, 14 Relay Bikeshare hubs in downtown offer smart-lock Relay bikes.

 

For more ambitious cyclists, there is a nineteen mile route that follows the Stone Mountain Trail, starting in downtown near Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta and winding up to Stone Mountain. I highly recommend this if you want a fun way to earn miles.

 

For the Presidential Election and Special Election, October 12-30, State Farm Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks, will be an official early voting location. By biking downtown to vote, you will exercise your body and exercise your right to vote.
